Miles:
Ricky Skaggs is an old man right Mama?
Me:
Uh, yeah, I guess so (in comparison ya know...)
Miles:
I think he died in the 1890's didn't he.
Miles:
Mama I want to hear that cat and the cradle and the moon song.
Me:
Oh yeah? Why?
Miles:

Miles:

ReplyDeleteIn college I worked for a day care center (an awesome one at that). We took the kids to the beach and museums and bowling and roller skating and pretty much any place fun and educational within the greater L.A. basin that would have us (even camping!). As we all know, "Nobody walks in LA" - particularly not with 120 kids in tow, so we spent a lot of time on our buses. We sang everywhere we went (also kept car sickness to a min.). The center's owner and director was a child of the 70's, and loved every "story song" there was. We taught them all to the kids - they loved them, I loved them - fun was had by all. The kicker was that undoubtedly on the days of particuarly long rides when we rang the whole repertoire the next day we'd field a bunch of calls from new parents wanting an explanation as to why we'd spent the afternoon teaching their child the "Hate your neighbor" song. Which was of course "One tin soldier." As you said - out of the mouth of babes...
